SheCodes Africa is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bridging the gender gap in the tech programming industry in Africa. Their mission is to educate women and provide them with all the skills and industry knowledge they need to get a head start in the world of tech. They host various tech workshops every year that cover a variety of tech. And guess what? They have a workshop taking place this August!

SheCodes Africa Mentoring Programme 2020

SheCodes is offering an intensive programme tailored to help women who are beginners in the tech world. These women will be paired with experts and instructed on how to excel grow in their chosen fields. The workshop will last for 3 months and the application deadline is August 14th 2020.  The Cape Town International Animation Festival Postponed

The Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) is one of the largest African animation festivals in Africa. The programme features everything from animated films, master classes, roundtable sessions and producer events and also provides great networking opportunities. But due to increased spreading of Corona virus in South Africa and the new government ban on public gatherings of over 100 people, the event has been postponed.

The Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF), which was to take place this year, has been postponed to 24th to 27th April, 2021. The event will be co-located with Comic Con Cape Town at the Cape Town stadium and will still boast a programme offering a little something for everyone. So don’t worry because, in the words of Festival Director Dianne Markings “This is not goodbye [but ] see you all soon.”

Get Ready for GUNDAM!

GUNDAM Online Expo is a one of a kind, U.S Based virtual event that has just been announced by Bandai Namco Collectibles (Bluefin), Bandai Namco Group companies, Sunrise Inc., and Bandai Spirits. The event will take place over 12 days beginning on August 20, 2020, and attendees will get an exclusive  visit to GUNDAM Base Tokyo via a virtual augmented reality. The experience will include a tour of GUNPLA WORLD Ver.MG, a special exhibition celebrating GUNPLA’s 40th.

The expo will also offer other content such as instructional sessions with professional modeler Katsumi “Meijin” Kawaguchi and will include interviews and panels on gaming, voice acting, animation and merchandising.
