Introducing Onzuo Onguogo aka Whyt Manga

Nigerian Onzuo Onguogo known most popularly by his online name, Whyt Manga is the creator of the manga, Apple Black. Inspired by anime, manga, films and the art of storytelling, Onguogo decided to delve into the world of manga and bring something unique to the table and thus, Apple Black was born.

 A Little Bit About Apple Black

The manga, Apple Black takes place in a fantastical world of sorcerers.  It follows the story of a young Sorcerer named, Sano who is said to be a Trinity, as he sets out to fulfil his prophecy and save his world from a dark event called the Infinite Night. At the same time, he is trying to solve the mystery of his father’s demise.

Through Apple Black, Onguogo’s explores themes such as politics, evangelism and forgiveness whilst also delving into his own Nigerian influence and African roots.

YouNeek’s Unique Youniverse

In an effort to keep fans engaged with their stories and bring more continuity and interconnectivity between their comics, YouNeek Studios have recently announced the creation of Youniverse. Dubbing it the MCU of graphic novels, Youneek studios’ Youniverse is a series of superhero graphic novels, with individual stories that will serve as an overall plot.

 The first chapter of the series is called Genesys and will comprise six titles, featuring Malika, Windmaker, E.X.O and many more.

Who is Frederick Jones?

Frederick Jones is the owner, publisher and founder of the manga anthology magazine, Saturday Am, which is to the most diverse Shonen anthology. Jones is also a storyteller and from his comes one of the most unique mangas, Clock Striker.

 

Clock Striker – Manga’s First Black Female Shonen Lead

Jones’ Clock Striker follows the life of young girl named Cast, who dreams of being a Blacksmith, a legendary figure with almost magical engineering skills, but she is handicapped and comes from a marginalised town. But after she discovers a female Smith named Philomena Clock, she becomes her apprentice and begins going on adventures and training to reach her dream of becoming a Smith.

But what sets Clock Striker apart from its counterparts is not only its unique story but the fact that it is the first Shonen manga to feature a black female lead! Talk about breaking boundaries. Through Cast’s story Jones hopes to bring more diversity to the world of manga and show people that no matter your race, or gender, there is nothing you can’t do!
