African Creatives Making Space for Africa

Afrofuturism fused with African heritage and history is showcased in the creations of production companies The Nrb Bus, Black Rhino VR and INVR as well as visual artist, Kwame Nyongo. These East African creators have made use of VR and animation in a unique way to connect African history to the world of today.

African Space Makers and Apes in Space

The production companies are  doing this through  African Space Makers, an interactive, VR mockumentary, that takes  viewers on a journey through Nairobi and five urban groups that work in the creative industry. Kwame Nyongo, is making a change through his animation film Luanda Magere whichfollows the story of a Kenyan folk hero who uses his special powers and gifts to save his community from their enemy 500 years ago.

Both these productions have gained international recognition and are showing the world that there is indeed, a future for animation in Africa.
