Who didn’t love “Hair Love’’?

In 2019 academy award winning short film, “Hair Love” struck a chord in the hearts of millions of people worldwide. But then again, how could it not? The short film, directed by Matthew A. Cherry,  poignantly and humorously tells the  heart-warming story of African-America father (Stephen) who bonds with his young daughter (Zuri) after overcoming the daunting and dangerous task of taming her wild  hair. Checkout the short film on YouTube below…

The short film resonated with many families across the globe in similar situations and has gained so much buzz that, this year, HBO Max have ordered for it to be turned into a series.

From Hair Love to Young Love

The short film is going to be produced into a 2D Animation series that will follow the lives of the Young family seen briefly in the short film; parents Angela and Stephen, their daughter Zuri and Rocky the cat (we can’t forget him), as they traverse the 21st century and face trials and triumphs both in the home and in society.

Hair Love’s director Matthew A. Cherry, along with HBO Max are as excited about getting the Young family’s story out there as people are to hear it, and there is no doubt that when the series hits television people are gonna love it.
