Ivorian Filmmaker Phillipe Lacote’s The Night of Kings
Heard of Night of Kings? It’s a new film created by the French-Ivorian director Phillipe Lacote. It tells the story of a young member of a violent gang who is imprisoned in Abidjan’s La Maca jail. Here he is forced by the gang leader to entertain the inmates with stories and so he tells the tale of Zama King who travels through space and time.
The film strives to paint a picture of the Ivory Coast and each character has been designed to represent the Ivory Coast society. It will be debuting at an off competition screening at the 77th edition of the Venice film festival.

Brought to you by the Royal African Society, Film Africa is a film festival held in London,it celebrates the best of African and African diasporas cinema from across the continent. The event is now in its ninth year and will run from 30th October to 8 November. A variety of quality films will be showcased and the programme will feature director Q& A’s, talks and discussions, workshops and masters classes and much more.

Let’s Talk About the Mandalorian
Jon Favreau’s, live action series, The Mandalorian has made quite a splash in the world of entertainment. Premiering in 2019, the series is set Five Years after the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the story of a lone bounty hunter as he journeys throughthe outer parts of the galaxy far from the New Republic. The series has so far has had one successful season and it looks like that’s not going to be it!
The Mandalorian Returns for Season 2 – Streaming on Disney Plus
The Mandalorian is going to be returning for Season 2! A trailer for the upcoming season has already been released, and it looks like the season will look into what takes place after the collapse of the Galactic Empire and will continue to follow the lone bounty hunter on his quest through the galaxy, as he is tasked to reunite ‘the Child’ with its own kind.
